The Cove Poker League Supported Charities

Every member of The Cove Poker League donates £1 every evening they play Poker with us. A list of charities we have supported since we formed are listed below. Our members to date have raised £713.00 for these good causes


Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice offers specialist palliative care in a compassionate and friendly environment. As an independent charitable trust and a centre of excellence, we aim to provide equitable supportive care to those with life-limiting illness and to their families and friends.

Phyllis Tuckwell was a local mother of three who was diagnosed with cancer in 1949. Since the Hospice named in her honour was opened in 1979, more than 6000 local people facing a terminal illness have been cared for at the Hospice and in their homes.

The RNIB are the UK’s leading charity offering information, support and advice to over two million people with sight loss.

Their pioneering work helps anyone with a sight problem – not just with braille and Talking Books, but with imaginative and practical solutions to everyday challenges. Projects such as Talk and Support and Parents’ Place make a difference to people’s lives.

People are still losing their sight unnecessarily. The RNIB campaign to eliminate avoidable sight loss and support research into the causes and latest treatments of eye disease.

World Vision is a Christian relief, development and advocacy organisation dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice.

World Vision serves all people regardless of religion, race, ethnicity or gender and works to change the root causes of poverty through campaigning, church partnerships, education and influencing policy makers.

In whatever World Vision do, they place a special emphasis on ensuring the needs and rights of children are met, because they are often the hardest hit by conflict, disaster and chronic poverty.
